I wanted to let you know about some exciting upcoming workshops in R being offered by the Library. For those who are not familiar, R is a computer program that has become an important text-mining tool for digital humanities research.

Title: Intro to R

Description: This 3 hour course includes a basic introduction to the R syntax, data structures, and language constructs.
We will also cover using RStudio, a tool to help manage R projects and write R scripts. Following the basics, we will cover how to import
data into R and how to work with R’s most used data structure, a dataframe. This course is geared to participants who are new to R.

Description: This workshop is geared to researchers wanting to use R for basic data manipulation and analysis. It will introduce participants to the basics of data tidying and manipulation (notably using tidyr & dplyr), how to set up data processing pipelines, and briefly cover working with a database. We will be using a genomics dataset for this course. This workshop is designed for novices, but we would like you to have some experience with R or have attended the Intro to R course on 11/8.
