Hi all,
First, thanks for signing up for KNIT and joining the DH group! We’ll be using this group as a campus-wide communications channel to share news about events, resources, and initiatives related to the digital humanities. Please feel free to post to this forum and respond to other participants’ posts. Also note that KNIT is still in development and may require some patience as we fine tune its features. 🙂
Additionally, I wanted to invite you all to an informal brown bag DH meeting we’re hosting in the Redwood Conference room at the Library this Friday from noon to 1 pm. The purpose of the meeting is share ideas and questions pertaining to DH, and talk about what sort of DH culture we might want to cultivate at UC San Diego. To jump start the conversation, we will be reading two short pieces.
The first piece, “Special Report: Digital Humanities in Libraries” gives a brief overview of ways libraries are supporting DH and should help ground our conversation in currently-existing initiatives and trends.(https://americanlibrariesmagazine.org/2016/01/04/special-report-digital-humanities-libraries/)
The second piece, “Digital Humanities Manifesto 2.0,” is much wilder in tone, but I hope will provoke us to think expansively and creatively about our own DH opportunities. (http://www.humanitiesblast.com/manifesto/Manifesto_V2.pdf)
If you haven’t already, please let me know if you plan on attending so I can make sure we have enough room. You can message me here or email me at erglass@ucsd.edu.
Looking forward to chatting soon!
