Watching this really gave me perspective on how to do my video project. Though it won’t be as beautifully organized and directed, Spike Lee is a fantastic artist. What I love the most about the entire movie, was that it felt unbiased , he really…[Read more]

Some guidelines for f […] ViewThis week really opened my eyes to the decisions thee refugee families have to make at almost an instant. Before, it felt like the United States was at a lose-lose situation. People expected us to take these refugees in since we were the land of the free. We would even get backlash when any other country stepped in to help. While I still believe…[Read more]

Some guidelines for f […] ViewFriday’s reading mentioned the Wet Foot / Dry Foot policy the US had sanctioned against the Cubans in order to further regulate immigration. I’ve always believe that the rules we originally wrote for this country were general enough to guide us through our early inception as a country. But as of of maybe 150 years ago, has proven to be obsolete.…[Read more]

I wanted to elaborate on what I was saying during this week’s discussion. For a lot of the privileged, there is this sense of entitlement they have that for some reason does not transfer over to minorities. By looking at most gentrified cities, we can see how most start…[Read more]

Some guidelines for f […] ViewGoing off of my in class comment, most people neglect the fact that these ghettos are as organized as actual city institutions. I knew from experience and prior knowledge that people would take advantage of the tension between white people and minorities, but this article uncovered so much more that I did not realize was possible. For example, I…[Read more]

Of all the readings this week, “The Racialization of Space and the Spatialization of Race” really resonated with me. I live in the city of Hawthorne, which is bordered by the cities of Manhattan Beach and Inglewood. Manhattan Beach is the perfect exa…[Read more]
