Magdalena Ramirez, born and raised in north bay of San Diego, is a Latina woman who is an aspiring film-maker and took part in founding Detention Resistance. She recounts the responsibilities she held as a founding member of the organization and elaborates on her own experiences. Although she is no longer a current member of Detention Resistance, she discusses how her work with the organization has left an impact on her life. The interview was conducted over Zoom to prioritize safety and adhere to social distancing rules during a surge of Covid-19 cases. The interview was conducted by Lianne Duong, a second year Pharmacological Chemistry major at UCSD who is interested in discovering how impactful collectivist action is.
