Alison Moore, MD, MPH is Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry and Chief of the Division of Geriatrics, Gerontology and Palliative Care at UC San Diego, along with serving as the Vice Chair for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for the UC San Diego Department of Medicine. She is a geriatrician researcher with expertise in diverse populations of older adults, including the design and testing of age- and population-appropriate assessment tools and behavioral interventions. She is the recipient of a UC San Diego Health Sciences Faculty Excellence in Mentoring Award and has a longstanding interest in mentoring others. She currently holds leadership positions in pertinent training programs, including UCSD’s NIA-funded T32 focused on aging, UCSD’s long-standing NIA-funded T35 Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) program, and the ADRC REC. She is also a member of the Mentoring and Career Development Core of the NIA-funded Clin-STAR and on the executive advisory committee of NIA-funded Research Centers Collaborative Network (RCCN)-Executive Committee.


John Elder, PhD, MPH is Distinguished Professor in the Division of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health, and Adjunct Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UC San Diego. He brings to the Center tremendous leadership experience teaching and mentoring diverse students and junior scholars. He founded the SDSU Institute for Behavioral and Community Health and is PI on grants focused on training future Latino researchers.


Paul Gilbert, PhD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at SDSU, is a NIH-funded researcher specializing in the study of neurocognitive, behavioral, and motor changes associated with aging and neurodegenerative disease (including Alzheimer’s), with a particular focus on learning and memory.  He is also a core member in the SDSU-UCSD Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology and the Co-Leader for the Neuropsychology Track. He has a strong history of mentoring in NIH-funded programs to increase diversity in science.
