Mini-Abstract--Revolutionary Research: Feminism and Women in STEM Initiatives at SDSU

When the SDSU Women's Studies department oversaw a workshop for Careers for Women in Science and Engineering in 1977, the feminist politics of the Women's Liberation movement formed the ideological foundation of initiatives to get more women involved in STEM at SDSU. The printed manual from the 1977 workshop features biographies of forty panelists and sets aside time in schedule for "Feminist Theatre". Today, even though women are still underrepresented in STEM fields, radical feminist politics are absent from these initiatives. In this podcast, we explore how the perspectives of women in STEM have shifted in the forty-two years since that workshop.
